Which was first, the Chicken or the Egg?

Which was first, the Chicken or the Egg?    The Egg?

Always was my answer with the infamous question!  Mind you, I always back my answer with a.... do I really care? "

I do know however, this Chicken was so fun to make and even though a little high-priced to me, well worth it when finished. File can be purchased at: http://www.sunshine-hobby-works.at/49219/huhn-ei
For the record, there are no directions included but easy to piece it together correctly.  Just stare down the picture!

This Chicken Egg is about 5-6 inches tall and very sturdy when finished.  I am setting my Chicken on my kitchen window and putting fresh potpourri inside.

Thank You for stopping my Blog and have a great weekend!

ScrapCuts By Judy Mother's Day Ideas

Mother's Day in 16 days and as usual, I am running behind.  Lucky for me, Svgcuts.com just released a few days ago, "Garden Party Box Cards."  The birdhouse folds into an envelope so nicely and anyone you send this to, will love it.   Again, the hardest part was choosing which paper to use for the project.  I am using Graphic 45.   Below is the side and back of card.

Also in this set, is the Adirondack chair.  It also folds into envelope for mailing.  So cute and finished within minutes,

Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by my Blog.  Checkout my storefront on Etsy!

ScrapCuts by Judy - Goodbye March and Hello April

Umbrella Bag file by SVGCUTS

Time to get those Easter crafts started!  I loved making the newly released Umbrella Bag by svgcuts.  Very quick and easy to make.  The back of the design is a straight half of the umbrella, which is great to use as a centerpiece.  This keeps it from rolling over etc.

Looking at the basket/bag above, the white oval is where you can write/stamp a personal message.  I used 3  12x12 papers and each bag took around 20 minutes.  The hardest thing for me, is choosing which paper to use.

TIP:   Save your scraps of papers!  I put mine in a plastic container marked Spring/Easter and next year, hopefully will use them.

ScrapCutsByJudy Store for digital cutting files

Hopping on the Bunny Trail

I hope everyone had a good Valentines Day.  It seems like the holidays are flying by or is it I am slowing down?

Please be advised the "ScrapCutsbyJudy" Etsy store is my primary selling storefront and effective March 01, 2017, the only place to purchase my files.  It is on this website ONLY, I will be offering new files and any assistance.  Check my store regularly as I will be adding more svg files.

Bosskut has now closed its crafting supply doors.  I bought my Bosskut Gazelle 8-9 years ago and for 2 weeks, never plugged it in.  I just stared at it!!  After those two weeks though, I cut away and never looked back.  I learned so much from using this machine and Funtime software.   The owners and staff at this company were A++++ and I hope they enjoy their retirement years.

If you are wondering which machine I would recommend , it is bar none, the SILVER BULLET for serious crafters and businesses.  I own 6 different electronic cutting machines and my Silver Bullet is my favorite.  Yes, the machine is expensive compared to buying a $300- $350 machine BUT, I own 4 of one brand alone and still don't have the quality or performance of my Silver Bullet!  Think about this..  None of those four machines have the metal construction, the speed or the cutting depth and accuracy.  OR CAN CUT 18 inches!!!  The owner and staff are hands on and AAAAA+++.   And buying those 4 lesser priced machines, ended up costing more than 1 Silver Bullet.

Have a great weekend and Please remember to go to my Etsy Storefront.  Click the store link on the right of my page.  Thank you.

Shadowbox Fun

                                      Happy Spring and Happy Easter!

After seeing this cute as can be new release from svgcuts, I was ready to do a few vinyl projects.  Luck was on my side as Michael's had their shadowboxes 50% off!  Shadowboxes make great gifts for others and for your own home.  Either of the above projects were under $10 to make.

The grow box is a 8" by 10" and the coffee one is 5" by 7".  Neither project requires much vinyl and I used scraps I had to make mine.  The coffee mug is also from Svgcuts.com and very easy to make IF you watch the video one time. :)   The title for the coffee/mascara file is from Silhouette online store.

Thank you for stopping by my Blog and I hope you will checkout my online store.

3D Mushroom Set

3D Mushroom Set is now available in my Etsy Store.   This set has been so much fun to work with!  Available for $1.99 and the design pattern comes with a summary/ instruction sheet. Easy design to put together!  This set is a digital cutting file for electronic cutters.

Each product will contain a SVG, WPC, AI, Vector PDF file and a JPG.

Easter Chick and Raccoon are NOT included. Chick is by StinkinCute and found on the Silhouette store. Raccoon is part of the Woodland jpg set offered by Prettygrafikdesign on Etsy.

My grand daughter asked me to make these for her Baby shower which was a Woodland Friends theme.   My first reaction was, "WHAT??  It's a baby shower!  What's the world coming to?  Well, I must say, it was absolutely beautiful with her additional accents etc.  I made almost 40 of these and only had 2 left on the tables!  So my 3D mushroom was born!   This can also be used for other holidays, birthdays and accent pieces for any room.

EASTER Card in Box

Easter Card in Box NOW AVAILABLE!

This was such a fun card to design and make!  Easy to put it together.

I used American Craft paper for this file and recommend at least 65# weight and 80# is better yet. After 10 years of using only Scotch quick dry glue, I have changed my glue and love it.  Dries quicker and thicker.  Easy cleanup and the price is less.  I have switched to PH Neutral PVA.  Black and white tag and I buy the 4 oz for $7 on Amazon.
Lineco product.  Not sure if Scotch changed the formula but it seemed thinner and not drying as quick.  Of course ,it could have been a bad bottle or just in my mind but a few other crafter's stated the same thing.  SO??

Here are 2 more pictures of the new Easter Card in Box.  thank you for stopping by my blog!  Have a great week.

Boho Butterflies Bag and Vase

Above is one of the 5 items in the
svgcuts kit.  Boho Butterflies.  What fun it was making these!  Either project would make a nice gift for someone. The above gift bag was very easy to assemble.  Large enough to use as a catch-all on your desk.  Since I used solid paper for my butterfly; I shaded my project with my Copic markers.  The butterfly design is delicate but no problem cutting using my Silver Bullet machine

I enlarged the vase pattern so my completed vase is 6" by 9" and I love it!  A quick and easy project to make.  I used Bazzill Card Shoppe 100# paper, which I purchased from Star Lit Studio .  Check this online store out!  They give 5 star service, carry htf items and super-fast shipping!  I believe my total cost in making this vase was under $2.  I added some decorator stones and a t-lite.

I am thrilled a new 3D svg design business is open online!  DREAMING TREE  and do they have some great designs!  Check them out and get your free design.

Today I am finishing my Halloween treat bags and cards.  Will post soon.  Happy Fall and thank you for stopping by my Blog.

Halloween Stinging Jack's Lantern

Congratulations to Dreaming Tree website with your official site launch!  Leo Kowal is the owner of Dreaming Tree: formally affiliated with Svgcuts.  Check out his new digital file site for some great svg 3d designs! www.3dsvg.com  Right now Leo is giving away a new cutting machine plus gift cards.  So sign up for a chance to win.  Be sure to sign up for the news letter and grab your free files.

The file above is Stinging Jack's Lantern from the Dreaming Tree store.   This design was EASY to make and I love the finished product. Completed project is an estimated 7.5 inch high and wide in size.  Use it as a table top design or hanging Halloween design.  The concept of printing the panels on vellum is GENIUS!  The picture above is the lantern sitting on top of a box (orange/black) so you can see the bottom easier.   Below is a closeup of the design.

This lantern is very sturdy when finished, and should survive many Halloweens!

Tiffany Like Paper Lamp - Crafts

Mary at Svgcuts has done it again with this design file.  WONDERFUL!  Was it time consuming to make?  Yes.  It took me 3 days, but I could have done it quicker.  What takes so long is the coloring of the velum tiles 3 or more times.  I never could figure an easier way to color as you need some opaque when finished.

As you can see, my Silver Bullet Cutter machine cut this detailed design flawlessly!

Above is my finished lamp turned on.  I love it!  Inside the base is a 9" candle lamp. (electric)  I was surprised how few sheets of cardstock was needed.  Base: 2 sheets  Lampshade frame : 3 sheets  Lampshade tiles: 4 sheets vellum.  Glue.   This is from memory, so check your design before cutting it for supplies.

I will be adding more files on my Etsy store site, so stop by and shop!  Scrapcuts by Judy

BABY CRIB & GOLF CART - BOX CARDS

How much fun is it to make a box card ?  ALOT and pretty easy!  The above cutting patterns are available at svgcuts. com for purchase.   These took very little time to assemble  and only 3-4 sheets of cardstock.

BABY CRIB  BOX CARD

This card is perfect for a baby shower or announcements!   It will easily fold up to put in an envelope.
My Silver Bullet cutting machine cut  this detailed design with no problems!!

GOLF CART  BOX CARD

This Golf cart card was fun to make and the perfect card for my husband, Pete.  We live in the Central Florida area; which is a hot-spot for retirees and golf carts!  We have many mobile / modular senior developments which golf carts are the preferred way to get around within the neighborhoods!  I am telling you now, don't mess with their golf carts either!  :)   Another svgcuts file.

I have added some new baby digital cut files on my Etsy store front this week.  Check it out and thank you for stopping by my blog!

Heritage Bedtime Castle

 Heritage Bedtime Castle

You may think this isn't a traditional gift for a baby, but it is!  Just bear with me.  This design is offered bySvgcuts.com   and the name of the file is " Bedtime Castle."  I hesitated to make this at first, as I thought it would take me years, but it was basically finished within a day.

 Castle - 14.5" tall
Paper I used is Graphic 45 "Mother Goose"

I don't know about any of you, but I personally was not interested in my heritage until I was 50 years old.  I did remember a few family stories shared with me, but not enough information to pass on.  So in my spare time, I researched our family roots.  I just know by the time I am finished; there will be an app to scan your eyes and DNA using your phone and tell you immediately your family history ! UGH

In the picture above, we moved the smaller towers lid section, which is covering a hidden box.   I am making a small sized family history book and will place it inside the castle box.  I will include pictures also of our Ancestors and notes.  Now my Grand-daughter will have the information needed and wanted to share with her children.

Cowboy Birthday Card

Isn't this a great card for a younger boy?  This design is easy as it gets and is another svgcut.com file.  This card took around 30 minutes to complete.

The little Cowboy reminds me of my Great-Grandson Jed.

The patterned paper is by October Afternoon "Sasparilla".  October Afternoon paper is one of my top 5 papers to use.  Cuts like butter and just fun paper!  The downfall?  Hard to find. :(   I did find an online store which carries this htf line and at discount prices too!  I have ordered 4 times from this store and the service is 5 PLUS Stars!  I am paying  .75-.79 cents per paper which other places are charging .95-.99 cents a sheet.  I am finding hard to find designs/companies which is also a bonus.  And, what pride they take with their package preparation for shipping. Every order has been carefully packed and WRAPPED.
Below is a picture of my latest order.  Thank You to Starlitstudio.com.  Check out their store!

Have a great week and thank you for stopping by my Blog.

Another WoW factor with my Silver Bullet Cutter

Did you know Silver Bullet is now having weekly Webinars?   They are free, interesting and informative.  Go to their Silver Bullet CuttersFacebook page and sign up.

While I was watching the Webinar Thursday night, I realized I haven't tried to test a few features on my Silver Bullet Cutter.  So, I decided to test cut intricate cuts and see how small my machine could cut them.

I started with my Flag Doily Set as it is intricate and has a doily.  I cut the top piece ( flag outline) using foiled cardstock. (#65 wgt.)  I cut using a setting of 550 for speed and 71 for force.  I test cut these with a 60 degree detail blade and a 45 degree detail blade.  Very little difference in the cuts but maybe, just maybe, the 45 degree cuts looked cleaner to me.

I needed to make these pictures black and white as I couldn't get good pictures due to the red foil.  I have to admit, I was shocked my Silver Bullet cut the stars so nicely at 1 inch in size!

Notice the flag doily on right (below) and the completed size is around 1.25 inches.

Now, I am really wondering how small I can go with the doily.

AMAZING!!!

I have never cut a half inch doily before and I am not sure if even an 1 inch.  I did get it smaller but I can't get my pictures to show all of the eyelet holes.  (below)

I have 5 electronic cutters and this is the first time I have ever been able to cut a doily this small.  Look how consistent my eyelets are cut.

I then tried another file which has detail cuts and when done; shocked and Wow factor again.

Sizes in red

Notice the .75 & .50 inch fish are perfect!

So get familiar with your machine and don't hesitate to push it to the limit.  Share your discoveries and results with Silver Bullet Facebook page or the Silver Bullet forum.  Have questions?  You can get answers at either site.

For the record, I am not affiliated with Silver Bullet in any way.  I am just a very happy customer sharing my thoughts etc.
